So close I can taste... victory that is, not the wine.  I have less than 500 words to go. FIVE HUNDRED!!!  I want to keep going and finish it right now but I am fading fast. Maybe I'll try again later tonight, if not, then tomorrow I will celebrate success!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!

My writing plan for today is no writing at all!  With only around 3000 words to go, I can afford a day off.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day and eats way too much just like I plan to.

I can tell NaNoWriMo is almost over by the number of times I check my word count in an hour.  The closer to the end, the more often I check.  I'm tired. My fingers are tired. My current story is tired... nah, the story is fine.  It's really starting to take shape and I find myself coming up with great plot points. Unfortunately, I always come up with those plot points when I'm away from the keyboard.  Thank heaven for pocket sized notebooks!

Four days to go and I can almost taste the victory!  Or maybe I'm just tasting blood from biting my lip so hard while I try to concentrate.  Another 1700 plus day.  Now I'm sweating finding the ending for this story.  I feel like I'm writing a novel not a short story.  I may have to cheat on an ending just to complete it for NaNo.   Who knows, maybe next year I'll turn it into a full length novel.

Finally we're in the home stretch.  Week four at last!   Today's work went very well... once I got started.  It is a cold, windy, rainy, day which you'd think would be perfect weather for writing.  Somehow, it didn't work that way for me. I spent hours looking at the same inane sites on the internet and playing games before I finally forced myself to get to work.  Once I did, it flowed. I finished over 1700 words in less than two hours.  I just wish I didn't have to work so hard to get myself started.

Another day, another story. I'm struggling a bit, as usual, with my lack of pre-planning but otherwise the words are piling up nicely.  I came up with a vague idea for this story a year ago.  I planned it as a novel not a short story but it has been fun to discover the main plot points in short format.  Hopefully, by the time I finish, I'll know whether or not the main plot will stand up to becoming a full length novel.

Hooray!  I finally finished the story I've been struggling with all week - AGAIN! Soon as I got into bed last night, I started thinking about a few more paragraphs it needed to really feel complete.  Those few paragraphs turned into another 1000 words this morning, but at last it is well and truly done. What a relief.
As soon as I finished it, I swore I'd never go into a story with so little preparation again.  But then I turned around and started the next tale with just as little preparation as the last. Will I never learn? Will I have any non-gray hairs left after this month? Stay tuned.

At last I've finished this story!  I'm not thrilled with the finish but at least there is a complete story here - beginning, middle, and end.  Definitely worth the whole metaphorical bottle of wine today.   I should spend some time thinking about what I'll work on tomorrow but I am totally brain fogged so I am heading downstairs for at least one glass out of that bottle.

The writing went a lot faster today than it has been. Phew!  I still haven't figured out the two additional scenes I need to finish this story but I have figured out the ending.  It really helps to have something to work toward.
