Who died?

I have a big problem with my story – I have a dead guy on a pool table with a cue stick down his throat and I can’t decide which of two characters he should be. They both deserve to be killed, one more than the other, they both have plenty of people who want them dead, again one more than the other, but I can’t make up my mind which one to bump off.  Even worse, I can’t decide who did it. I have a LOT of scenes to write before I get to that point so I don’t have to know right this minute.  But soon, very soon, I need to figure it out.
